Good research, recommendations, and plans for dissemination are critical to evidence-based practice (EBP). Scientific integrity requires sharing the information with the larger nursing audience, which often occurs in the form of a poster. Poster presentations can occur in person or virtually. They are common at conferences, but can occur in other settings as well. It is important when presenting to build from information in the poster rather than repeating it. Being able to orally synthesize displayed information and make meaningful connections across components is valuable to an effective presentation. This is challenging, but practice can help! It is equally challenging to give constructive peer feedback. In this assignment, you will have an opportunity to practice both. Use information and feedback from project preparations to complete this assignment.
Scenario
At the request of your Shared Governance Nursing Research Council, you have completed a literature review that identified an evidence-based recommendation for a professional practice problem. For the next meeting, they have asked you to virtually present your literature review and plans for dissemination for further consideration.
Directions
You will present and discuss your literature review with your Shared Governance Nursing Research Council in a video presentation. Your presentation should provide an overview of your literature review and dissemination plans for your evidence-based recommendation and incorporate any feedback received throughout the course.
This presentation and discussion will be submitted through Bongo and follow discussion submission deadlines. There are multiple steps in completing this assignment, so be sure to read the guidelines and directions carefully.
Before you begin, follow these steps:
1. Verify you have access to the Bongo tool as outlined in the Bongo module.
2. Familiarize yourself with information regarding the RISE model for providing feedback to your peers.
3. Remember that you will receive feedback from your instructor and peers. Take this feedback seriously and use it to improve your interprofessional communication skills.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria in your video presentation:
1. Presentation: Deliver the e-poster presentation in a professional manner.
o Consider the following: Content is presented in an organized and logical manner
o Information is communicated clearly (e.g., font is legible, text is readable, bullets are used)
2. Connections: Synthesize the information from the e-poster, making meaningful connections. Include the following:
A. Project title, author, and credentials
B. PICO question
C. Background of the professional practice problem
D. Search strategy, including keywords, databases, and inclusion and exclusion criteria
E. Synthesis of evidence from the eight research articles, including any considerations regarding ethics or equity
F. Evidence-based recommendation
G. Stakeholders
H. Dissemination plan, including audience and method
3. Professionalism: Maintain professionalism in presentation. Consider the following:
o Professional presence
o Background noise
o Correct use of professional nursing and research terminology
4. Primary, Peer-Reviewed Research Articles: Incorporate the eight current (within the last five years) primary, peer-reviewed research articles from your projects.
Following your presentation, respond to the two automatically assigned peers with substantive feedback in writing by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. in your time zone. Your feedback to each peer should be evidence-based, include at least one scholarly reference or professional source, and address the following components of the RISE model:
• Reflect: Share what stood out to you and why.
• Inquire: Analyze and ask clarifying questions.
• Suggest: Provide suggestions based on your understanding of your peers’ initial posts.
• Elevate: Share any insight or encouragement you have on how to expand your peers’ initial posts.
What to Submit
Submit your initial post as a video with screenshare through the Bongo platform and upload your completed Bongo presentation template or Bong Presentation text-only version, which includes space for a reference list. Sources should be cited according to APA style. The templates can be customized as long as all content is present.
References should maintain the sequencing of APA style, though text formatting is not possible in this tool.
The Module Eight Bongo Presentation Template Text-Only Version is an alternative format for the presentation in a text-only version.
