Key Highlights and Takeaways from Strengths Finder 2.0 and EIQ16-R
The assessments completed for this week’s discussion were very informative. The information provided was thoroughly explained. I was able to identify and agree with several characteristics within myself. There were some characteristics that I questioned and disagreed with, but also some that I have never been aware of until taking the assessment. The information provided was useful enough to utilize in my personal and professional setting.
What insights did you gain and what did you learn about yourself, as a student and forensic psychology professional, through this process?
After reviewing my results for the StrengthsFinder 2.0, I was very surprised. My five most dominant traits were relator, empathy, deliberative, responsibility, and significance. I strongly agree with the strength of responsibility, with it being that I am able to identify that I indeed take ownership of what I say and do, and how much I am committed to my values.
The EIQ16-R Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire was iffy to me. Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize emotions (not only within yourself, but also in others) and how you use emotions in everyday life.
I agreed and disagreed with some of the results provided. I was very surprised with my overall score which indicated that I am still “developing”. One of the results that I learned about myself as a professional through this process was the ability to perceive emotions. I agree with the report stating that I am still developing in certain areas.
How I Might Increase my Self-Awareness Helping me Become Better Prepared for Life as a Graduate Student in Forensic Psychology and Further my Progress as a Professional in the Field
This assessment provided me with ideas and ways to improve the areas I am not strong in. Although I was previously aware, the assessment allowed me to understand more in depth of the importance of not allowing emotions to control and influence me as a student and professional. I will continue to strive to make sound decisions based on logic instead of emotions.
